FENCE TALK . . . with Pastor Wade

Wade

“BE SURE OF YOUR CALLING”

Ephesians 1:18 says, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that youmay know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” I always thought the purpose of that verse was to reveal to us what we are supposed to be doing. However, just this week, it dawned on me that this was talking about the calling of who we are to become, not what we are to do. When we place our value on what we are to do, then we allow comparing, competing, judging, insignificance, inferiority, pride, guilt, or condemnation to overwhelm us and we become defeated. When we place our value on who we are becoming, we can be exciting, edifying, pursuing, progressing, and be victorious because we are going from faith to faith and glory to glory.
John 10:13 tells us that He calls us by name. John 15:16 says He has chosen us to be fruit producers. 1 Corinthians 1:9 tells us we were called into the fellowship of His Son. Romans 8:28 says we are called according to His purpose to be conformed to the image of His Son. Romans 9:23-26 says that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy which He had prepared beforehand for glory even us whom He called. I will call them My people and they shall be called sons of the living God. I encourage you to position yourself so that the eyes of your understanding may be flooded with

Line From Louise

On a recent stormy, rainy afternoon it seemed the heavens opened up and the area was flooded with a heavy rain. As a man was leaving the Chuck Wagon, I asked, “Do you think it is going to stop?” (Actually I was thinking of him and his wife getting to their car dry). He replied, “It always does.” This reveals a great truth: No matter how long, fierce, or dark a time of trouble or sorrow we may be going through, the end of it will come. No crisis lasts forever. It is eventually resolved in some way, by some means. This is true in every area
of our lives. I visited with a lady today that was going through some real heartache and disappointment. I
just gave her a hug and told her that we all have had to experience some hurts and no one seems to be exempt. But one thing I have learned, as much as we want to change people and fix it – we can’t. It works out better if we can just turn it over and ask God to intervene in our situation and watch Him do what He does best. He loves to restore families, solve issues, and deliver us from the hurts that we are experiencing. He is the only one that can restore our peace and give us joy and strength to continue on the path He has set for us. I guess what sums it up is that we need to meet the challenges of life’s crises with God’s word and prayer, and then praise Him for the answer. He has the perfect plan; let go and let God. Expect a miracle! As we say around here, “The best is yet to come.”
